ANNUAL REPORT -2007- 2008
It had been an eventful year for the organization as the organization was able to be one of the sponsorer’s for the International Conference on Education held in Geneva, Switzerland organized by ICWE GmbH, Germany and UNESCO. The main objective to be a part of this event was to promote Quality Education among the rural underdeveloped children as well as overcoming inequality.
The activities were multi-faceted, however, all of those synchronized during the process, aiming at the singular objective, to add value to the present day secondary school infrastructure, in rural West Bengal.
The various activities were:-
· Identification of Secondary Schools in the remotest areas of Birbhum, Jalpaiguri and Nadia District of West Bengal, who could access almost no benefits, from the mainstream education program run by the government and non-government agencies.
· Liaising with such school authorities for introduction of Computer Training and Communicative English course for selected students.
· Selection of students on the basis of merit and their pecuniary status, with the help of the respective headmasters of the schools.
· Liaising with the District Inspector of schools, appointed by the Education Department, Government of West Bengal, for obtaining necessary permission and also with an aim to institutionalize the initiative at a later stage to ensure sustenance of the program.
· Looking for prospective donors to obtain both financial and technical support, to enable the organization to initiate the program.
While the activities listed above, were the major thrust
areas, the organization faced several challenges during
the process too. Some of which were:
Finding competent computer trainers and communicative English Teachers, in rural areas, which the organization had apprehended earlier also.
Sensitizing the parents of selected students, on the necessity of such value addition program, which would require the students to attend additional classes, as the students were mostly from the farmer families and had to help their parents in the fields.
Convincing both the District Level Government functionaries of the Education Department and also the respective school authorities, who are usually complacent in nature and are satisfied with the traditional secondary school infrastructure
However, with the sincere and relentless efforts of our team of committed staff-members, volunteers and well wishers, we could overcome the hurdle and initiate the program in the targeted schools.
Inspired by our initial success, we firmly believe that we shall be successful to replicate the model in several other schools in the Districts of West Bengal, India, with timely and worthy support from our prospective donors.
We also look forward to pro-active support from the parents of these under-privileged children, the school authorities, government functionaries and all other like minded individuals and organizations, who would partner us in our future endeavours.
Revolution-An Essence for Freedom wishes one and all the very best and requests them to join hands, to ensure each child their RIGHT TO QUALITY EDUCATION.
