About Us Our Story |
We began with a simple idea of promoting Quality Education.
Revolution’s role since its inception had been identification of processes of value addition to the present day Secondary Education, infrastructure on one hand & identification of meritorious& promising students from among the under privileged cross-sections of the society.
The objective had been to provide these secondary students access to Quality Education, empower them and facilitate them to join the mainstream academic and professional infrastructure in future.
The idea was not to create a parallel education infrastructure but to identify the inherent key areas of weaknesses of the system and make sincere efforts to reduce such weaknesses through low cost sustainable initiatives, which the schools can carry on, even beyond the programme period.
Out of the 19 districts of West Bengal (India) 3 districts were identified & 10 schools each were selected in each district. 100 students from classes (VIII - X) were selected from each school. The criterion for such selection had been their merit & their lack of access to Quality Education
One of the major weaknesses in
the system
identified was their lack of knowledge in communicative
English, as their medium of instruction in such schools was
the local vernacular i.e. Bengali in most cases & in some
cases Hindi. While English as a subject was taught in all such
schools, its stereotyped module
hardly taught them to express themselves and communicate in
English.
Ironically, the medium of instruction in case of almost all forms of Higher Education is English in India and thus without the skill of communicating in English both verbally and in writing, it is virtually impossible to pursue higher education & step into an income-generation exercise subsequently.

Another essential training, which was found not to be available in such schools, were basic computer skills, without which again it becomes extremely difficult for a student to pursue higher education or to access job opportunities at any point of time.
The organization aims to addresses these two key issues by providing computers, English learning modules, necessary infrastructure and faculty members to those schools.
